Exploring Middot (Character Traits) to Help You Live Your Commitments and Be Your Best Self: A Monthly Class from Rabbi Lauren Grabelle Herrmann

December 11, January 8, February 12, March 12, April 9, & May 14
7:00 PM

We usually emerge from the High Holidays renewed and excited to grow qualities we discovered or rediscovered in ourselves over those holy days. And as is human habit, we often fall back into old habits, neglecting our new commitments. Tikkun Middot, working on our character traits, originated with the Jewish Mussar movement and has been reconstructed today as a contemporary way to help us develop positive qualities that align our actions with our values. Each month, Rabbi Lauren will introduce a new Middah or quality, including patience (savlanut), mindful speech (sh’mirat lashon) and more. We will look at it from a textual perspective and consider practices for the next few weeks until we meet again.
