Author, journalist, and SAJer Diane Cole will discuss why and how Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan, founder of our congregation and the Reconstructionist movement, reconstructed the Haggadah and why it created an uproar. Some questions we’ll explore: Why did he delete the plagues? Why did he add Moses, who never appeared in traditional Haggadah text? Why did he take chosen-ness out of the Kiddush? And importantly, why does his version still speak to us today? Discussion and Q&A will follow.
