Since October 2018, a diverse group of congregants have met regularly to study tradition and to consider our values to order to formulate Shabbat practices to guide SAJ. In some cases, the Shabbat Values Team decided to affirm existing practices; in other cases, we made tweaks; and in other instances, we are recommending decisions that are new and uncharted.

We have brought out recommendations to the board for initial feedback and now we would like to invite community members to respond and give feedback. We will consider the input of the community members before we take back the full guidelines to the board for approval in May. 

Please note: a copy of the Shabbat Values Guidelines, in draft form, will be available to all who register and/or those who would like to attend but are unable. Please also note the time and energy and caring that went into formulating these guidelines. Each member on the committee made compromises and stretches and we hope that community members will also stretch and consider new possibilities!
