Hebrew School Class Description

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Students "Bogrim"

The Hebrew word Bogrim means young adults. Our Bogrim Program helps young Jews make the transition from being Jewish children into being Jewish young adults. Bogrim students continue the work that they began in the Kitah Gimmel and Kitah Dalet Program while also branching out into new areas appropriate to their developing levels of maturity as well as helpful to them in their preparation for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremonies.  Read more»

Grades 4-6, Ages 9-11

In the Kitah Gimmel program we encourage students to begin choosing their own paths for their Jewish education, using the basic Jewish knowledge they have gained in their earlier years of study. There are five components to our Kitah Gimmel Program: Chevrutot (partnered Hebrew learning which focuses on reading, Bible, and Prayer study), Electives, Tefillot (prayers), and History.
Kitah Gimmel classes meet twice a week, and you may choose from either of two sections:

  • Sunday (10am-1pm) & Wednesday (4:00-6:00pm)
  • Tuesday (4:00-6:00pm) & Thursday (4:00-6:00pm)

Grades 2-3, 7-8 Years Old

Our Kitah Bet program is intended to help our 7 and 8 year-olds become connected to Jewish life and Jewish culture in such a way that they begin to see Judaism as a source of spiritual and emotional nourishment. The Kitah Bet program is modeled after Maria Montessori’s history curriculum for 7-12 year olds while also continuing to draw from the exploratory approach of the discovery centers described in the Kitah Alef program.

Kitah Bet classes meet once a week, and you may choose from either of two sections:

  • Sunday (10am-1pm)
  • Tuesday (4:00-6:00pm)

Grades K-1, 5 - 6 Years Old

Kitah Alef (first class) is designed to encourage our youngest students to explore Judaism in an environment of discovery that will allow them to blossom and grow as Jewish learners. Inspired by the educational philosophy of Maria Montessori, our Kitah Alef classroom is divided into five discovery centers. Each discovery center is devoted to a different subject or skill area in Jewish life.

Kitah Alef classes meet once a week:

  • Sunday (10:00am- 1:00 pm)

or

  • Tuesday (4:00-6:00pm)
