Reconstructing Mordecai Kaplan: Last Class Tomorrow, February 11

You can still participate in this six-week seminar, led by SAJ member Diane Cole, which explores the work and legacy of the visionary founder of the Reconstructionist movement—and of our synagogue.

What is Reconstructionist Judaism, and what does it mean to be a Reconstructionist Jew in 21st century America? What was Rabbi Kaplan’s vision of progressive Judaism, and how can we continue to learn from his philosophy? For each session we will read and discuss selected writings by and about Rabbi Kaplan, including excerpts from his seminal work, Judaism As a Civilization. Through focused reading and discussion, we'll gain insight into his ideas, his teachings, and his impact and legacy on Judaism today.

Class dates are January 7, 14, 21, 28, February 4 and 11. Socializing over wine and cheese begins at 7:00PM. Teaching will begin promptly at 7:30PM
