On Saturday, January 12 at 1:15 PM, SAJ member, Marsha Jacobson, "Improving the Odds of Organ Donation".

The shortage of donated organs is so critical that thousands of patients die while waiting vainly for a transplant. Yet would-be donors are often denied the opportunity to donate because of misinformation and hospital practices. As COO of the regional organ bank, SAJ member Marsha Jacobson's challenge was to help solve this problem in New England. The turnaround saved thousands of lives and inspired a nation-wide program. Marsha will discuss how to assure all wishes to donate are honored, address common myths, and discuss today's important and, to many, troubling debate about how to increase organ donations. The talk will be followed by Q and A.
